I am watching the new T.V. series, American Crime with great interest. Some of the scenes from the show were filmed at the Juvenile Justice Center where I work.
The first episode of American Crime aired last Thursday on ABC at 9pm (central). From what I understand, in the upcoming episode on Thursday 12th there will be at least one scene from our location and that is when a juvenile, who has just been arrested goes through his intake. The intake scene is here at our intake section of our building.
Here are a couple of pics from the filming days there. The first one is the conference room across the hall from my office. They added bars on the windows, repainted the room, etc.
The other two pictures are from their set up outside our building. It was an interesting time to have them filming here to say the least.
I even managed to walk right by one of the actors - Benito Martinez, who was out walking at lunch the same time I was! (Yes I did manage to keep it together and not make a big deal!)
One of our employees also has a part as an extra but I understand she is in the last of about 13 episodes.

I think I watched the first episode. I have to check. :) How cool is that to be midst the fanfare.
ReplyDeleteActually I think the most fun was seeing how personable they actually were. We were invited to the big catering tent to eat and I spoke to several of them while doing my lunch time walks.
DeleteThey added bars on the windows... Well, I guess that tells us a lot about the show and how reality-based it is. Nothing like trying to make a statement, huh?
ReplyDeleteI would imagine that they have as much reality as any show on television.
DeleteWe're watching American Crime, too, and now, with added interest. We enjoyed HBO's THE WIRE all the more because our daughter was living in Baltimore at the time. The setting of one episode was just down the street from her rowhouse.
